Jordan Hoeppner, Registered Massage Therapist in Burlington, Ontario

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can Jordan bill my insurance directly?

Yes, where your plan allows it. Jordan is a Registered Massage Therapist, and most extended health plans in Ontario include massage therapy by an RMT. Coverage amounts vary, so check your plan's limits before you book.

  • Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to book with Jordan. Some insurance plans ask for a doctor's note before they'll reimburse massage therapy, so it's worth checking your plan first (this requirement is being phased out).

  • Can I book Jordan just for a relaxation massage?

Yes. Not every massage has to be treating a problem. Tell Jordan what you're after when you arrive and he'll adjust the session to suit.

  • Can Jordan help with jaw pain or TMJ?

Yes. Jordan treats jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction with massage of the jaw and face and, where it helps, intra-oral work on the muscles inside your mouth that control how your jaw moves. He'll explain what's involved first, and only does intra-oral work with your consent.

  • Does Jordan offer pregnancy massage?

Yes. Jordan adjusts your positioning and his technique so you're comfortable and well supported, and adapts each session as your pregnancy progresses. Let us know you're pregnant when you book.

  • Can I add assisted stretching to my massage?

Yes. Jordan can split your appointment between massage and assisted stretching, depending on what your body needs that day. Because he's a Registered Massage Therapist, the whole session is billed as a massage therapy appointment under your extended health benefit.

  • Will Jordan give me exercises?

If they'll help, yes. Jordan's background is in exercise and rehabilitation, so he often suggests a stretch or simple exercise to do at home. You won't leave with a long program unless you want one.

  • What does massage therapy at Propel include?

Every massage at Propel starts with a short conversation about what's bothering you and what you'd like from the session. You can read more about massage therapy at Propel, including the techniques our RMTs use and how sessions are billed.

  • What happens at a first appointment?

Jordan will ask about what's bothering you, your health history and what you want from the session. He'll check how you move where it's relevant, then start treatment in the same visit. You'll be asked about pressure throughout.

  • How do I book with Jordan?

Book online or call the clinic. If you're not sure whether massage therapy is the right place to start, book a free 15-minute phone consult and we'll help you decide.

Registered Massage Therapist

Jordan's credentials and training

  • Registered Massage Therapist — College of Massage Therapists of Ontario
  • Diploma in Massage Therapy — Ontario College of Health and Technology, Stoney Creek
  • Bachelor of Kinesiology — University of the Fraser Valley, British Columbia
  • Soft Tissue Release, Level 1

Jordan came to massage therapy from the exercise side of healthcare. After finishing his kinesiology degree, he spent five years in British Columbia building rehabilitation and exercise programs, first in physiotherapy clinics and then in his own mobile practice, working with people recovering from injuries. He then trained as a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario, where he treated athletes, desk workers, pregnant clients, and people recovering from surgery or managing long-term health conditions

Jordan’s approach to massage therapy

Jordan tailors every session to what you came in for. Some people want a calming relaxation massage. Others need focused deep tissue work on a stubborn problem area, sports massage built around their training, or manual lymphatic drainage. Many sessions are a mix.

He'll ask what's going on, look at how you move, and adjust his pressure to how your muscles respond and what feels right to you.

Because of his background in exercise and rehabilitation, Jordan often finishes a session with a simple stretch or exercise to do at home, and explains why it helps. That way the work keeps going between appointments.

Techniques Jordan uses include:

  • Relaxation (Swedish) massage
  • Deep tissue massage
  • Sports massage
  • Myofascial release
  • Manual lymphatic drainage
  • Pregnancy massage
  • TMJ (jaw) massage, including intra-oral work
  • Assisted stretching
  • Remedial exercise

Jordan’s sports background

Jordan grew up in British Columbia, spending most of his time outdoors and playing sports. He has competed in powerlifting and has played soccer and ball hockey all his life.
