Saskia Peloquin, Rehabilitation & Fitness Coach in Burlington, Ontario

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What can I book with Saskia?

One-on-one sessions: rehabilitation programs delegated by your chiropractor or physiotherapist, personal training, and assisted stretching. She also leads the Propelled Seniors class on Wednesdays.

  • Do I need to be an athlete to work with Saskia?

No. Saskia works with anyone trying to move better: getting back to a sport, back to a physical job, back to walking further without an old injury getting in the way, or getting active for the first time. Her Propelled Seniors Strength & Mobility class is built specifically for older adults.

  • What are Saskia's qualifications?

Saskia holds a Master of Science in Physiotherapy with Merit from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her clinical training spanned musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological, respiratory and professional sport settings, including Glasgow Warriors Rugby. She is certified in taping and strapping and holds Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED.

  • What happens in a first session with Saskia?

She will ask what happened, what you cannot do right now, and what you want to get back to. Then she will look at how you are moving and where it is limited, and you will start working in that first session rather than waiting until the second. You will leave with something to do before you come back. Wear something you can move in.

  • How do I book with Saskia?

Book online or call the clinic. If you are not sure whether Saskia is the right fit, book a free in-person fitness consult first, and you can both determine whether the services Saskia provides are right for you.

Saskia's clinical experience

Saskia trained across a wide range of clinical and sporting environments before joining Propel:

  • Glasgow Warriors Rugby — professional rugby, working with musculoskeletal assessment, injury prevention, performance testing and return-to-play rehabilitation
  • Crusaders Rugby Club, Oakville — field and sideline coverage for players from U7 through U19+, including acute injury management and taping
  • Outpatient stroke and neurological rehabilitation, Glasgow — individualized exercise-based rehabilitation for people living with stroke, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis
  • Inpatient complex orthopaedic rehabilitation, Glasgow — post-operative mobilization, patient education and discharge planning
  • Inpatient respiratory care, Glasgow — treating people with cystic fibrosis, COPD, bronchiectasis and pneumonia

Very different rooms with very different problems in them. Training that broad tends to make someone good at the thing that matters most in rehab: working out what a particular person in front of you actually needs.

What you can work on with Saskia

Saskia works one-on-one with clients at Propel on:

  • Rehabilitation programs delegated by your chiropractor or physiotherapist
  • Building strength and mobility back after an injury or time off
  • Personal training, built around what your body can handle right now
  • Assisted stretching
  • Getting back to a sport, a training routine or a physical job

Rehabilitation and training for active adults

Saskia's own background is in sport. She has spent time on the sideline with rugby clubs at both ends of the spectrum, from professional players at Glasgow Warriors to under-7s at Crusaders in Oakville, and she trains, runs, swims and plays ultimate frisbee herself.

That shows up in how she works. She is interested in what you are trying to get back to, and in building toward it in steps you can actually feel. Rehabilitation that stalls is usually rehabilitation that stopped being specific, so she keeps the programs concrete: what you are doing this week, what changes next week, and what tells you it is working.

She works the same way with people who have never played a sport in their life.

Propelled Seniors class

Saskia leads our Propelled Seniors Strength & Mobility class on Wednesdays, a small-group session built for older adults who want to stay strong, steady and independent.

It is coached, it is progressive, and it is designed for people who would rather train in a room with other people than on their own. Find the class schedule and details on the Propelled Seniors page.

Saskia's approach

Saskia's view is that rehabilitation works best when you understand what you are doing and why.

She builds programs around your goals, your abilities and what your week actually looks like, and she explains the reasoning as she goes, so you can keep making progress between sessions instead of only during them. She would rather you leave knowing how to manage your own body than keep coming back for someone else to manage it for you.

Outside the clinic

Saskia stays active through strength training, running, swimming and ultimate frisbee, and can usually be found out on a walk with her dog, Luna.

Insurance and billing

How your sessions are billed depends on how you come in.

If your chiropractor or physiotherapist has delegated your rehabilitation program to Saskia, that work forms part of your care with them. No HST applies, and your sessions may be covered by your chiropractic or physiotherapy insurance.

If you book with Saskia directly for personal training or assisted stretching, HST applies to those sessions.

Not sure which applies to you? Call the clinic and we will walk you through it before you book.
